I’ve never met Steven, but I have met the magicians at the Meditative Story who sat with me for multiple sessions asking thoughtful, probing questions about my personal narrative. The timing of this was auspicious and awkward. I’d just gotten my news that my cancer had spread to my lymphs and I was feeling stressed about the growth of MEA. So, as we used to say in our youth, I let it all hang out.

The result is this episode of their podcast with a few vignettes of my life including my relationship with my grandmother Nonnie and a surrogate African-American grandmama in New Orleans along with a love affair with redwoods and cactuses punctuated in the middle by my dark night of the soul in my late 40s, a time that deeply influenced my sense of calling that I needed to create MEA.
